Roe v. Wade, Roe v. Wade, Al Novstrup's vote and Roe v. Wade: Your letters

Aberdeen News

A thought experiment on Roe v. Wade decision

To those conservatives celebrating the end of Roe v. Wade on moral grounds, here's a little thought experiment for you.

Imagine you could eventually end the migrant crisis at our southern border by requiring all poor women from Mexico and Central America to have abortions, beginning today. Assume that doing so is the only way to ever end the crisis.

Would you do it? If the answer is yes, please write a letter to the paper justifying your flip-flop that blows up your moral high road and replaces it with what is merely expedient and political.

If the answer is no, please also write a letter to the paper. Justify why you, ostensibly in favor of the smallest government possible, are in cahoots with those who govern women's bodies and the now diminished choices they get to make about them.

Novstrup's vote could come with political price

In regard to Al Novstrup's insistence that he followed the South Dakota Constitution in Jason Ravnsborg's impeachment trial: Be careful, Al. You may end up paying a political price by implying that all those yes votes violated the constitution.

Ryan Kelly, Aberdeen

Overturning Roe v. Wade is just the beginning

The reasoning that the U.S. Supreme Court used to overturn Roe v. Wade completely changes how the constitution is interpreted. Now, the court says that people have no rights unless specifically granted by the constitution. The court now claims to be the ultimate decider on rights. Precedent is gone. Privacy in the bedroom is gone.

How will illegal abortion be enforced? Chemical abortion will be made illegal. Some contraceptives will be interpreted to be abortion and will also be outlawed. Pregnancies will be registered to track who might potentially get an illegal abortion,. Pregnancy test results will be monitored by the state. Travel by pregnant women across state lines will be tracked or restricted. Women who receive an illegal abortion will be charged with murder. With women forced to give birth to fetuses with birth defects or that resulted from rape and incest, unwanted babies will end up in orphanages, institutions and dumpsters or left at fire stations and hospitals. Home abortion deaths will skyrocket.

These policies will be implemented quickly in Republican-controlled states. These states will become experiments in fascism, creating statewide networks to pursue illegal abortions, track pregnancies and enforce restrictions on contraceptives. Hotlines will be created for citizens to report on their neighbors' pregnancies and contraceptive use.

But let's be clear. Overturning Roe vs Wade is not about abortion, it's about power. Power to control other people. If Republicans win the presidential and congressional elections in 2024, there will be no limit to their power. What to expect? Environmental Protection Agency gone, state-sponsored religion, election police to restrict voting, censorship, restrictions on “undesirable behavior” and suppression of minorities.

If George Orwell were alive to write a sequel to “1984,” it would be call “2024”.

Remember Aug. 29 for the 'Biden Lie Massacre'

With Jan. 6 and June 19 noted on our calendars, is there room for Aug. 29?  Aug. 29, 2021, was the day on this side of the world the Biden administration ordered the deaths of 10 innocent Afghans on the other side of the world.

The Biden Lie Massacre, or "BLM," was one of America's worst atrocities. Aptly named for "Biden" because with whom does the buck stop? "Lie" because for days after the drone strike that killed 10, including seven small children, we were told the planners of the suicide bombing at Kabul airport that killed 13 service members were the ones neutralized. "Massacre" because what else would you call killing seven small children?

The Bidens didn't console grieving family members or touch pictures at makeshift memorials. Joe Biden wasn't there to observe the off-loading of tiny coffins from donkey carts only to repeatedly check his watch because "Judge Judy" airs at 4 o'clock. The White House briefing room wasn't turned over to an actor/pitchman to advocate drone control and commemorate seven dead children in a southern drawl. Just forget them.

Only congressional hearings (next year) will determine how much pressure the Biden administration placed on drone operators to "just do something". How long did they cover-up killing 10 civilians, including seven small children, to win more daily news cycles? What did they know and when did they know it? Impeachment isn't good enough. Call The Hague, killing civilians is a war crime.

The last I heard about the "BLM," the U.S. government was offering victims' families $1 million and green cards.  Does that seem wise? A million dollars to families that had their children incinerated would buy lots of revenge.  Although, $1 million doesn't buy what it used to. Thanks, Bidenflation?

Government has too much control

Now that Roe v. Wade has been overturned, the USA is returning to the dark ages of coat hangers and vacuum cleaners. The government has no right telling females what they can or can't do with their bodies. It's none of their damn business!

The COVID-19 vaccines were never about public health. It was all about money and control. They weren't fully approved, so the government and Big Pharama can stop pushing them on the unsuspecting population. Why aren't all the illegal immigrants entering the country required to get them? They are ineffective and cause problems.

If you thought the COVID-19 lockdowns were bad, just wat until the climate crisis, created by government elites to control us, lockdown begins.

The COVID and climate crises were created by the government elites to control the population. You do know that Bill Gates wants to reduce the world population to 500 million in the next five years, right? When the COVID thing didn't kill the number of people he hoped it would, he has started a food shortage. I highly doubt there is a food shortage. It is just something Gates is using so that he can eliminate millions of more people from the planet. There is nothing good about this man. He is evil.
