"Autumn Splendor" is one of the Amish quilts that will be shown at the Art, Craft and Amish Quilt Sale taking place from July 7 to 10 in Jacksonport.

JACKSONPORT - The twice-a-year Art, Craft and Amish Quilt Sale is taking place July 7-10 at Mr. G’s Fernwood Gardens just south of Jacksonport.

This event sponsored by Jacksonport Cottage - Gallery and Gifts has plenty of handmade Amish quilts on display and for sale — more than 100 are expected in a variety of styles, colors and patterns, from baby to king-sized. The quilts will be shown on a queen-size bed and will be turned on a regular basis by show employees. Explanations of the quilts will be given as they are presented by staff.

But it's more than just quilts. Many other Amish handcrafted items will be on display and for sale, including wall hangings and barn quilts, seasonal décor, pillow covers, table runners, place mats, pot holders, table centers, spice mats, rugs, Amish dolls, baskets, purses and handbags, and miniature quilts. Fabrics and patterns also will be available.

Also part of the show are exhibits and demonstrations by area artists and craftspeople. On hand for this show are Chris Steinhagen with handcrafted brooms, Ken Klitzman (pen-and-ink drawings on Door County beach stone and scratch board), Sandra Peterson (pen-and-ink on embossed watercolor paper), Lana Bradley (handstitched fabric art), June Grutza (glass painting) and Kathy Plahmer (baskets).

Unique food items always are for sale at the show, highlighted by the ever-popular Amish cashew crunch. Also available are Amish caramels and Yoder popcorn.

The show runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 7-10, at Mr. G’s Fernwood Gardens, 5890 Wisconsin 57, two miles south of Jacksonport. Admission is $1 for ages 9 and older; ages 8 and younger are admitted free but must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
