The Elite 11 finals wrapped up in Redondo Beach, Calif., last night with 20 throwers competing in the annual showcase of quarterbacks. Some of 2023′s more well-known names weren’t present — Arch Manning fresh off his commitment to Texas and Tennessee’s Nico Iamaleava opting for volleyball — but a few noteworthy names to Alabama and Auburn fans competed.
Oklahoma’s Jackson Arnold was awarded the MVP by Elite 11 officials.
Crimson Tide commit Eli Holstein, Tigers’ target Brock Glenn and Briarwood Christian’s Christopher Vizzina were in attendance. He entered the final day as the No. 6 player on the Elite 11 rankings, determined by performance, junior year film and physical traits. 247Sports ranked Vizzinia, the 4-star Clemson commit, as the fourth-best performer from the event.
Holstein and Glenn didn’t crack 247′s top 10, with the latter being cited as a tad inconsistent. Glenn had wanted to announce a commitment prior to the June 28 start, but a rush of interest from Ohio State and LSU has complicated Auburn’s pursuit of the four-star quarterback.
In Sports Illustrated’s rankings, Glenn was lauded for “saving his best for last...Glenn was among the most comfortable on the move with the stationary targets, too, and was singled out by the Elite 11 staff for working the movement boldly during third-level attempts Thursday,” according to John Garcia Jr.
Glenn was ranked ninth while uncommitted quarterback Dante Moore took the top spot. Holstein qualified for the finals with the highest SPARQ rating in the Elite 11′s history. He recorded a 4.64-second 40-yard dash and a 38.3-inch vertical jump during a regional.
