Burton to be inducted into LWC Athletics Hall of Fame

Former Russell County High School Lady Laker and Lindsey Wilson College golfer Krista Burton will become the first women’s golfer to be inducted into the Lindsey Wilson College Athletics Hall of Fame later this year. The induction takes place on Saturday, September 10th, at the Roberta D. Cranmer Dining Center in Columbia.

Burton concluded her four-year career at LWC as the program leader in wins, scoring average, and rounds of par or better. She won a program-best 16 tournaments in her career, including the 2007 NAIA National Championship. She is the only Blue Raider golfer to win an individual national title.

Burton finished her career with a 77.6 scoring average in 80 career rounds while posting 34 top-10 finishes in 38 career events. She was a four-time NAIA All-American and a three-time All Mid-South Conference performer.

Burton helped the Blue Raiders win four Mid-South Conference regular-season and tournament championships. During her four years, Lindsey Wilson posted four top-10 finishes at the NAIA National Championships, including a national runner-up finish in 2007.
