State Police conducting a murder investigation in Webster County
Kentucky State Police said the Webster County Sheriff’s Office contacted them to conduct a murder investigation of a strangulation that occurred in Dixon on Saturday. They said 47-year-old William Bryan of Dixon contacted Webster County Dispatch at 9 a.m. Saturday and reported he had strangled his girlfriend and that she was dead. Deputies arrived on the scene and confirmed the death of 32-year-old Heather Davidson of Dixon.

Citizen advisers toured conversion facility at Paducah Gaseous Diffusion site
A group made up of members of the citizens advisory board got to tour the Paducah facility that converts depleted uranium hexafluoride into more stable compounds for disposal. The facility recently restarted operations, following upgrades completed during the shutdown, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The board was brought up to speed on the improvements during their June meeting. The tour provided the board members with an in depth look at the conversion process and the equipment used.

National Guard completes mission in Marion during water crisis
Friday was the last day for Kentucky National Guard troops to assist in Marion during the months-long water crisis. The Guard had most recently been handing out bottled water at the armory. They were originally pressed into service to fill trucks with water from the Tradewater River and haul it to Old City Lake. Transportation was later taken over by private haulers, and is currently suspended while the reservoir is full.

Marion flushing city water lines this week
Water levels in Marion's Old City Lake are high enough that the city hopes to flush out their entire system over the course of this week. Ever since Marion's water crisis began in April, low flow in pipes caused water to stagnate in the outer portions of their system, resulting in low chlorine levels and higher bacterial levels. This was the reason for the longstanding boil order, and the need for bottled water to be distributed. Officials hope the improved water chemistry will soon allow residents to use tap water as usual.
