Second driver dies following head-on collision on Interstate 72 east of Springfield
Zach RothA second driver in a Wednesday night head-on collision on Interstate 72 has died.
Zachary R. Wilham, 27, of Decatur, died one day after his car collided with one containing Lucas S. Otto, 20, of Arthur, a pitcher for the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes summer collegiate baseball team. Otto had been heading home following a Wednesday night game against the Normal CornBelters.
Illinois State Police said Wilham was driving his Chevrolet Silverado west on eastbound Interstate 72 near mile marker 118 in between Buffalo and Illiopolis when he struck the eastbound Hyundai Sonata driven by Otto at about 11:21 p.m.

Otto was pronounced dead at the scene early Thursday. Wilham was transported to a HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield where he died of his injuries at 12:19 p.m. Thursday.
The Lucky Horseshoes' game against the Quincy Gems Thursday night was postponed after Otto's death. The game was rescheduled for Saturday as part of a doubleheader in Quincy.

The team played the Clinton LumberKings at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Robin Roberts Stadium.
State police and the Sangamon County Coroner's Office are continuing to investigate the incident.
