When will 4th of July laptop sales officially begin?
Technically, 4th of July laptop deals are supposed to land on the date itself. However, last year's discounts started appearing up to two weeks ahead of that date, which means it's all to play for.
Should you wait for 4th of July laptop sales?
If you've found a laptop deal you like you may be concerned about taking the leap before official 4th of July laptop deals have landed. While we may see additional products added to sales lines on the big day itself, however, we typically see the vast majority of discounts come and go the weekend before major sales holidays such as this. That means we'd recommend jumping on any prices that work for you ahead of time - there's no guarantee they will still be on sale or in stock once the crowds descend on the 4th.
What to expect from 4th of July laptop sales in 2023
We've seen plenty of new laptops hitting the shelves in 2023 so far, which means we could see some early discounts on the latest releases in this year's sale. However, we're more interested in the steeper savings on older models that now find themselves being pushed off the shelves. With new lines from Apple, Acer, Lenovo, Dell, and more appearing over the last few months, there's plenty of cheaper laptops ready to drop down a price bracket.
We're expecting super budget laptops (Chromebooks or 11.6-inch machines with entry level specs) to hit at between $70 and $200 this year, with particular attention paid to the Lenovo Chromebook 3, HP Stream 11 (or 14), and Dell Inspiron 15. These were the heavy hitters in the budget price category in last year's 4th of July laptop sales, and have remained go-to bargain buys since then as well.
Moving more towards the mid-range, the Acer Swift 3, Lenovo IdeaPad 3, and Asus Vivobook 15 are regularly seen at between $300 and $500 during sales events. That's the price of an 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD configuration, with enough power in the processor to keep everyday browsing and multi-tasking slick as well.
If you move beyond $500 you're getting into 16GB RAM territory, with a 512GB SSD. We often see this price range dominated by machines like the Acer Aspire 5 - solid everyday laptops capable of running high-end configurations in chassis' that won't break the bank.
