LETTER: Come to rally for women's rights Saturday in Galesburg

Galesburg Register-Mail

Editor, Register-Mail: If you are part of the moral majority that believes that individual girls and women, and not the government, should determine when and if they risk their lives and health and futures, then come to the Rally for Women’s Rights, this Saturday the 2nd of July, at noon in front of the Knox County Courthouse.

Galesburg rally:'We Won’t Go Back!' Rally for women's lives, right to abortion is Saturday in Galesburg

Pregnancy should never be forced upon anyone. According to the journalist Jia Tolentino, "pregnancy is more than 30 times more dangerous than abortion ... One study estimates that a nationwide ban would lead to a 21% rise in pregnancy-related deaths."

Does it make you angry that because of a decision by six unelected justices, girls and women are to be treated as incubators? In the majority of states they soon will be subject to forced pregnancy and forced childbirth. This is unprecedented. Never before in history has the Supreme Court taken away an established civil right from a whole class of people.

Come to the rally and bring your love for the girls and women in your lives. Come prepared to demand the restoration of our rights!

See you Saturday at noon at the Knox County Courthouse. We will not go back! —Karen Kampwirth
