APD investigates fatal hydroplaning accident
A 36 year old Dawson woman died Thursday night in weather related incident
ALBANY, GA – Albany Police’s Traffic Unit is investigating Thursday night’s fatal multi-vehicle collision on Liberty Expressway.
Officers say they responded to the 700 block of the Expressway just before 6:30pm.
Police believe a Nissan Altima was traveling westbound when the vehicle hydroplaned across the median.
The vehicle rotated and collided with a tractor trailer traveling eastbound.
The collision pushed the vehicle into another tractor trailer traveling eastbound, ultimately pushing the Altima back across the median.
The vehicle came to a rest against the guardrail and the driver, 36 year old female, sustained fatal injuries.
The incident was handled by APD Traffic Unit.
The bypass was shutdown momentarily while crews removed the vehicles from the roadway.
