With Independence Day coming up, the city of Greenville has announced updates to its normal fireworks ordinance.

The Greenville Police Dept. said in a release that normally fireworks are prohibited after 10 PM, but on July 4th those hours are expanded until 12:30 AM.

The city will hold its fireworks display at the newly opened Unity Park from 6 to 10 PM Monday, July 4th.

The Spartanburg Police Dept. also released a reminder regarding the city's fireworks regulations.

In their release, they reminded Spartanburg citizens that the sale and possession of most forms of fireworks within city limits is forbidden by City Ordinance 22-124.

Spartanburg Police said they regularly confiscate a multitude of fireworks every year and respond to various calls of fights, disturbances, and fireworks-associated noise complaints.

However, they encouraged residents to attend professionally sponsored events should they wish to enjoy fireworks for the 4th of July weekend.
