PORTLAND (WGME) – Get ready to pay more for parking, trash bags, and more in Portland starting on Friday.
The Portland City Council approved several fee increases as part of the FY23 budget. These fees go into effect July 1.
Parking meter rates in the downtown area bounded by Middle, Pearl, and Commercial St. to Union St and all of Commercial St. will increase to $2.50 an hour. Monthly parking fees in the city-owned parking garages will increase $10 an month from $130 to $140.
Trash bags will now cost $1.75 per 15-gallon bag or $3.50 per 30-gallon bag.
The sanitary sewer rate will change to $12.30 per hundred cubic feet, up from the current rate of $11.80. The stormwater rate will change to $7.50 per 1,200 sf of impervious surface area, up from the current $7.25 per 1,200 sf impervious surface area.
In Parks, Recreation & Facilities, fees are also rising for boat launch, athletic facilities, cemeteries, pool rentals, golf, and summer camps.
