JACKSBORO, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – By listening to phone calls coming into and out of the jail, deputies with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office were able to make a significant drug bust this week.

From the recorded phone calls, it was learned that an inmate was working with Cynthia Allen and Connie Swangin in an attempt to have them purchase drugs and then help to smuggle them into the Campbell County Jail.  Deputies were able to discover that the drug purchase would take place at the DK Gas Station in Jacksboro, the former Eagle Market.  They immediately began surveillance on the area.

Deputies then observed what appeared to be an exchange take place, and stopped the vehicle shortly after for traffic violations.  Allen and Swangin were both inside the vehicle, where deputies quickly noticed a small container with an eggshell colored powder in the driver’s seat. Upon searching the vehicle, nearly 65 grams of a white crystal substance was found – along with various items of drug paraphernalia, marijuana, Suboxone, and a revolver.

Both Allen and Swangin were arrested, and further charges in the case are pending.
