WATERTOWN, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) – Watertown Post 17 would fall twice to power points leading Brandon on Thursday night at home.

Trailing 8-6 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, Watertown would rally the troops with two runs to tie the game at eight a piece to force the extra frames. Brandon however would put a five spot on the board in the top of the eighth to secure the victory. Jerod Cyrus tacked on one run with a solo shot in the bottom of the eighth in the 13-9 loss to Post 131. The two teams would combine for 28 hits. Ben Altohoff would lead the hit column for Post 17 with three, Jack Heesch and Carson Mutschler each had two hits. In total, nine Watertown players would come up with hits. Andrew Czech pitched four innings allowing eight hits, six runs, walking three while striking out five.

Brandon would put a five-spot on the board in game two and never look back in a 10-1 W. Althoff, Mutschler, Will Engstrom, Ryan Roby, Braedon Zaug, and Kolby Lacher each collected one hit. Jack Heesch pitched five innings allowing six hits, seven runs, giving out four free passes while fanning eight.

Watertown (14-31) will host Huron on Tuesday, July 5th for a 5 p.m. 7 p.m. first pitch. Brent Nathaniel will have the call of both games on New Country KS93.

Watertown Junior Legion also suffered two losses to Brandon on Thursday, 5-4, 7-2. Watertown JL (25-12) will travel to Groton for a doubleheader on Tuesday, July 5th.
