A woman was found shot dead in a wooded area in Woodbridge early Friday morning, police said.
At 4:28 a.m. officers with the Prince William County Police Department responded to the 13900 block of Jefferson Davis Highway to investigate a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a woman in the nearby wooded area suffering from gunshot wounds. Police said she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said no additional victims or property damage were located.
SkyTrak7 was over the scene Friday morning and there was a heavy police presence in the wooded area behind a 7-Eleven.
Police said they are investigating the incident to determine what led up to the shooting and are seeking to speak with anyone who has information as to what occurred. No suspect has been identified at this time.
