One killed, one hurt after shooting in Como, Mississippi

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police have confirmed that one person has died after a shooting in Como, Mississippi early Friday.

The Panola County Sheriff’s Office says two men were shot shortly after 2 a.m. in the area of Railroad Street and Church street. One man died on the scene and one man was rushed to Regional Medical Center in Memphis. 

A man who lives in the area says he heard what he thought sounded like fireworks but when he looked outside, he saw a man clinging to this fence and another man lying in the middle of the road.

People who live in the area say the men were walking to an ATM when someone opened fire. 

The Sheriff’s Office is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who can provide any information leading them to the shooter. 

“They need to find this person, get them off the street, and lock them up,” a Como resident said.

A possible motive has not been released. This is a ongoing investigation.
