Back in May 1982, Ciro Briganti took over a salon partnership. Now – four decades later – Ciro’s Hair Pavilion in Elmwood Park continues to serve loyal clientele and new patrons alike. The Full Service Salon offers hair services for men, women, and children, and handles all types of hair.
Ciro’s journey as a master hairdresser started at a salon in Fort Lee, then moved to another salon in Garfield in the 1970s, before making his way to Elmwood Park. However, the modern Ciro’s Hair Pavilion differs quite a bit from the original business. By the 1990s, the business expanded, adding a kids’ cutting salon, bridal expert styling, expert coloring while also selling bridal accessories and jewelry. In fact they became a destination for special event styling, communions, proms, and bridal hair. “We are always evolving, and making sure our clients are comfortable with our welcoming atmosphere,” Ciro explains.

Bigger and Better Than Ever
In the late 1990s, Ciro’s Hair Pavilion moved to their current location, a conveniently located 2,000-square foot building. 40 years in, the salon is a family business, as Ciro partners with his daughters; Creative and Education Director Gabriella bolsters the salon’s appeal by building clientele and developing unique training for Ciro’s employees. She’s also a Wella Master colorist, founder of the Ombrélage method, bridal specialist, hair extension expert and all around hairdresser. Meanwhile, Ciro’s oldest daughter, Nina, handles salon management, Bridal management, and logistics. Together, they are the concept development team.
Ciro’s Hair Pavilion offers haircuts, styling, coloring, smoothing treatments, extensions, wigs, and hairpieces. In addition, they are well known for bridal and special occasion styling, expertly handling communions, sweet 16s, and proms. As far as salon perks, Ciro’s is an exclusive carrier of Wella’s full color line. Likewise, Gabriella developed a trademarked coloring technique called Ombrelage that is exclusive to the salon. “Our services and products we use are top notch, backed by experience,” Gabriella says. Ciro’s main clientele are women ages 25 to 44, and range from single or newly engaged to mothers. Given their 40-year history, it’s no surprise that some clients have been with them for 20 to 30 years. “We’ve been with them from communions to proms, to weddings, to baby showers,” Nina and Gabriella say about longtime customers.
