The Atlanta Braves announce that longtime public address announcer Casey Motter has passed away. Motter had been with the team since 2007 when the team was at Turner Field, and was still with the organization until his passing.

Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that agent Casey Close is accusing the Atlanta Braves for creating a “false narrative” surrounding now Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman and his leaving Atlanta. Freeman fired Close after hearing that no Atlanta offer was disclosed to him at the time.

Britt Ghiroli of The Athletic tweets that an earlier report circulating surrounding a potential contract offer from the Washington Nationals and outfielder Juan Soto is inaccurate. The initial report stated that the Nationals were in talks to offer Soto a contract valued at $425 million over 13 years.

Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports that Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford successfully appealed his five game suspension down to four games and will serve it immediately. Crawford was part of a huge bench clearing brawl last Sunday between the Los Angeles Angels and the Mariners.
