GETTING SHOT. AUTHORITIES SAY FIVE SUSPECTS ARE IN CUSTODY FOR THE CRIME THAT STARTED IN NEW ORLEANS AND ENDED ON THE NORTH SHORE. SLIDELL POLICE ARRESTED THE GROUP LAST NIGHT. THEY MADE THEIR WAY TO ST. TAMMANY PARISH. OFFICERS SAY THEY WERE INSIDE A VEHICLE THAT BELONGS TO AN UBER DRIVER WHO WAS SHOT AND CARJACKED ALONG NORTH DUPRE. POLICE THE GROUP HAD AT LEAST THREE FIREARMS. SLIDELL’S CHIEF OF POLICE RANDY FANDAL SAYS HE BELIEVES THE TEENS WERE PREPARING TO COMMIT ANOTHER CRIME. >> THEY KNEW THE CAR WAS HOT AND THEY WERE PROBABLY LOOKING TO CARJACKED SOMEONE IN OUR AREA. THREE OF THE SUSPECTS WERE CHARGED WITH ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY, AND ILLEGAL CARRYING OF WEAPONS. THEY WILL BE BOOKED IN THE SLIDELL CITY JAIL. TWO JUVENILES WHO WERE BOTH 16 WERE ALSO CHARGE

Slidell police arrest 5 teens accused of shooting, carjacking Uber driver
The Slidell Police Department announced Thursday that it arrested five teenagers in connection with a stolen Uber driver's car.The Uber driver was carjacked and shot in New Orleans and left on the side of the road on Tuesday, according to Slidell Police. Slidell police were notified by the New Orleans Police Department that the stolen 2022 Toyota Highlander was possibly in the Slidell area. Shortly before 11a.m Thursday, a Slidell Police detective saw the vehicle near the back of John Slidell Park. Several Slidell Police tactical officers arrived and were able to take the five teenagers into custody without incident. The teens were also in possession of three firearms, according to police.Slidell Police investigators said they had reason to believe the teens were scouting the area in order to carjack another victim. “Due to our officers’ quick response in locating the suspects, and the stolen vehicle, we quite possibly averted a serious crime from happening in our city. Although we are extremely saddened to hear about the victim in this case, we are very proud to have swiftly taken these dangerous individuals off the streets and put them behind bars, where they belong," Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal said. "I sound like a broken record, but I’ll say it again-- If you come to Slidell to commit a crime, we will catch you. We will not tolerate this kind of crime in our community and we will keep our citizens safe, at whatever costs necessary.”The following individuals were arrested: Crystin Morgan, 18 years old, New Orleans, LA Eitan Morgan, 18 years old, New Orleans, LA, Jason Washington, 19 years old, New Orleans, LAAll face charges of illegal possession of stolen property (vehicle), illegal carrying weapons, possession of a schedule V narcotic, and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.Two 16-year-old minors from New Orleans also face charges of illegal possession of stolen property (vehicle), illegal carrying weapons, and possession of a schedule V narcotic.The three 18-year-olds were booked in the Slidell City Jail, and later transferred to the St. Tammany Parish Jail. The two minors were transported to the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center.The initial carjacking and shooting incident is being investigated by the New Orleans Police Department. The condition of the Uber driver is unknown. Any questions in relation to the initial carjacking and shooting incident should be forward to the NOPD.
