SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — South Fulton firefighters battled two potentially unrelated fires just a few feet from one another overnight, but it ended with one firefighter being sent to the hospital.

Fire officials say they were called to a house fire on Mason Road just before 9:30 p.m. Thursday night.

While fighting the fire, one of the firefighters walked around the back of the building to make sure it wasn’t burning in any other areas and found a second building less than 20 feet away also on a fire.

A second crew of firefighters came and battled that fire.

Fire officials say they are unsure if the fires were separate incidents or if one of the fires caused the other.

By analyzing the smoke, officials say they could tell several “poisonous combustibles” were burning, so they had to be careful while putting out the fire.
