Leonard Linton, 42, of Pinetta, received a call Friday, June 17, concerning his pregnant dachshund, Ivy. Ivy wasn’t feeling well, so Linton took a speedy route home. As he was driving through Live Oak, Linton pulled into a convenience on East Howard Street. At the store, Linton paid $10 for a scratch-off lottery ticket, which happened to be the $2 million top prize from the 100X THE CASH game hosted by the Florida Lottery. "I still can't believe it. This is life-changing, but I'm definitely getting Ivy a new kennel," Linton told the Florida Lottery.
Linton claimed the prize in Tallahassee on Monday, June 20, with his lucky dog by his side. He chose to take home his winnings in a one-time, lump-sum payment of $1,645,000. The store will also be granted a $4,000 bonus commission for selling the ticket.
