In the wake of free agency, the NBA trade market is heating up. The Spurs sent Dejounte Murray to the Hawks in exchange for three first-round picks and Danilo Gallinari. According to multiple reports, the Atlanta Hawks are likely waiving Gallinari, making him a free agent. If they do, should the Chicago Bulls pursue him?

How Likely Is Danilo Gallinari To End Up On The Chicago Bulls?

According to K.C. Johnson and Joe Cowley, the Bulls will have an interest in Gallinari if this happens. Gallinari would come to Chicago and fill the need for a three-point shooter. This comes as no surprise since his path crossed with Chicago Bulls head coach, Billy Donovan, in his Oklahoma City days.

In his career, Danilo Gallinari has maintained a 38.2% three-point percentage while attempting 5.1 threes per game. That would be an improvement from the Bulls’ 36.9% shooting from three-point range this past year.

Lonzo Ball was a big contributor last year, shooting 42.3% from deep. But he only played in half of the Bulls’ games last year. If Lonzo is out with an injury, Danilo Gallinari would help tremendously. If Lonzo is back and can play in more games, adding Gallinari to that could turn a glaring weakness into a strength.

Looking around the NBA, the Chicago Bulls have a lot of good reference points for a deal with Danilo Gallinari. The Bulls could offer a deal along the lines of two years at $7.5 million AAV.
