Shawn Gallagher Jr., 34, was arrested after fleeing a traffic stop in Eureka on June 30, according to the Eureka Police Department.
Gallagher fled on foot near Hodgson and Q Streets 1:45 p.m., EPD said. Gallagher appeared to have a concealed handgun under his shirt.
A perimeter was set around the area Gallagher was last seen.
After receiving information from a local witness, officials searched a residence and yard on the 1600 block of Glatt Street was searched, but Gallagher was nowhere to be found.
Officers reviewed local surveillance footage to identify Gallagher. Almost two hours after the incident at 3:45 p.m., Gallagher was arrested near 14th and A Streets and taken into custody without incident. Gallagher was booked into the Humboldt County jail for charges of a felon possessing a firearm.
While Gallagher fled, officers detained the driver of the vehicle, Jacob Swagart, 32. Upon searching the vehicle, EPD K-9 Bohdi found an assault-style rifle. Swagart was arrested for possession of an assault rifle.
