LURAY, Va – Harsh words did not equal a harsh punishment for the Luray woman accused of making a threat during a Page County School Board meeting earlier this year.

According to online records, Amelia Ruffner King received a one-year sentence of supervised probation during a hearing Thursday morning in the circuit court.

The 43-year-old King was charged with a misdemeanor after making a statement about a possible mask mandate in schools during the public comment period of the January 20th meeting.

In her comments, King said her children would not go to school with masks on and then stated that she would bring every single gun loaded and ready.

King has future hearings of December 29th and June 23rd of next year at which time it is likely that the charge will be dropped if she stays out of trouble.
