Roy Steven Reynolds, Sr.

May 4, 1947 – June 24, 2022

Roy Steven Reynolds, Sr., age 75, of Gatesville passed away Friday, June 24, 2022, in Waco. A Celebration of Life will be held later this fall, time and date to be determined.

Roy was born May 4, 1947, in Aransas Pass, Texas to Clyde and LaWanda (Lundy) Reynolds. He attended schools in south Texas and eventually earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science from Cochise College. Roy joined the U.S. Army where he volunteered his service in the Vietnam Conflict and in Afghanistan. While serving, he specialized in military intelligence for 23 years. He enjoyed that line of work so much, that he continued to work in the field for 30 more years at Ft. Hood.

Roy married Delecia (Dee) Robin on April 1, 1995. He enjoyed spending time with Dee at their home and caring for his chickens, donkeys, cats and his little dog Shiloh. Roy liked to go fishing. When he wasn’t working or caring for his animals, Roy could be found with a book in his hands, as he loved to read.

Roy was a born-again Christian. For 10 years, they attended White Mound Baptist Church in Mound and just recently he and Dee were attending the Church of Christ in Pearl. Roy had two favorite Bible verses: Psalm 111:10 – “The respect of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” and Psalm 71:18 – “Even when I am old and gray do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation.”

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sheila Faye Withers and Clydeann McCrumman; and his first wife, Sally Reynolds.

He is survived by his wife, Dee (Dano) Reynolds; son, Roy S. Reynolds, Jr. and wife, Sheri; daughters, Tamara Rogers and Ronilynn Rogers; sister, Brenda Reynolds; grandchildren, Kaylee Reynolds, Chris Reeves, Zach Smith, Mariah Reynolds, Andrea Reynolds, Brianna Reynolds, Kimber Reynolds, Alex Nipps, Erica Nipps, Luke Rogers, Colton Wierenga, and Casey Wierenga; great-grandchildren, Rosie Smith, Isaac Smith, Axel Reeves, Arrow Reeves, Jalanie Reynolds, Noah Hearne, and Grace Lynn Rogers; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
