Joseph William Zieris, age 75, of Gatesville, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022. A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Sunday, July 10 at 12 p.m. at Eastwood Baptist Church with Dr. Lynn Parks officiating.

Joe was born Sept. 26, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York to Joseph E. and Margaret A. (Duggan) Zieris. He graduated from Massapequa High School in New York and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in animal husbandry.

Joe had a long and distinguished military career. He joined the Navy after graduating from high school then went into the Air Force. He also served many years in the National Air Guard, completing 40 years of service, which included tours in Vietnam and Desert Storm.

Joe worked as a Licensed Veterinary Technician specializing in animal husbandry after retiring from the military. He had always wanted to be a “cowboy/rancher.” He finally reached that goal when he moved to Texas in 2009. Joe loved his family, his faith and his country and his pets.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carole, who extends her heartfelt thanks to everyone for their love and compassion.
