Epcon Communities has announced the Courtyards of Fishers, located off Southeastern Parkway. The Courtyards of Fishers will offer four floorplans ranging from 1,500 to 4,000 square feet. The community will have 50 home sites. Amenities will include an outdoor pavilion, walking trails and pond. Epcon will start accepting home site reservations this summer.

On May 23, 20 members of the Theta Alpha Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Psi met at the Sheridan Public Library. President Tina Kitchel began by offering the highest honor Phi Beta Psi has to induct both Arnola Pickett, a charter member of Theta Alpha Alpha, and Judy Van Meter, as life-time members of Phi Beta Psi. These two ladies have made it possible for the Chapter to become a source of love and friendship for members in the Sheridan community.

LGBTQ+ advocates in Westfield say Mayor Andy Cook instructed city staff to take down the Pride Month post from city social media after it was posted on June 1. “I heard him say that he was the one that said it needed to come down,” said Alisha Hunter, the president of Westfield Pride and chair of Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network Central Indiana, or GLSEN. “That it was his decision to pull it down.”

June is a busy month for Fishers Arts Council, and FAC is kicking if off with a brand-new community exhibit called “Summer Shine.” This exhibit focuses on what brings joy, the pride in being one’s true self, and the beauty that shines from within. Bold colors, big statements, and love are the aim of this exhibit, and local artists definitely delivered.

Three Hamilton County girls making big impact on their team. Hamilton County basketball players are so far making a big impact for the Indiana Junior All-Stars. Both the girls and boys Junior All-Stars took on their Kentucky counterparts Sunday in games at Jeffersonville. The Indiana girls won 79-69; the Hoosier team led 23-16 after the first quarter. Kentucky cut that lead to 35-34 by halftime, but Indiana outscored Kentucky 44-35 in the second half.

June 3, friends gathered – or rather, conspired – at DeLullo’s Trattoria, 230 W. Jackson St., Cicero, to make sure Emily’s Pearson’s 65th birthday was one she will never forget. Pearson said several times that no one had successfully thrown a surprise party for her before. Someone tried once, but word got out. Carmel’s Jessica Remm is one of two Alfred University softball players named to the Division III Softball All-Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Team. Remm was named as an All-ECAC outfielder. She became the third Saxon in a row and fourth in school history to be named an Empire 8 Rookie of the Year, joining Meghan Neto (Miami, FL/Doral Academy Charter) and Mya Wells (San Ramon, CA/California) in the streak. Remm was fourth in the Empire 8 with a .411 batting average, totaling 58 hits and a conference-high 44 RBI. The 58 hits for Remm are the fourth-highest total in a single season in program history for Alfred University, while her 44 RBI ties for the third-highest mark. She was responsible for 13 doubles, two triples, and two home runs this spring for the Saxons. In the outfield, Remm put together a .967 fielding percentage that included 55 putouts. She additionally received All-Empire 8 First Team recognition.
