Through a combination of American Rescue Plan Act funds and a Community Development Block Grant, the City of Weatherford will be making upgrades to the wastewater treatment facility.

“The block grant will pay for a belt press. With the funds we received from ARPA we will combine the $1 million with the $450,000 from the grant to pay for the project,” Mayor Mike Brown said.

The city has looked at buying a press for several years and with the help of ARPA funds the project can begin.

During a city commission meeting in February it was said this project will open opportunities for population growth because double the amount of sludge will be processed through the new press.

Currently the project has not been put out to bid.
