Kearney football hosts Hastings for summer 7-on-7

KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - Summer football is in full swing in the Tri-Cities whether it be on the camp circuit or 7-on-7 scrimmages. Kearney hosted Hastings in the latter of those Thursday night.

Both the Bearcats and Tigers got extra reps and refined several of their offensive and defensive sets. And while most of the session was conducted in thud mode, both teams derived value from the practice time against a local opponent.

“You’re getting some continuity between some of the skill guys, you’re getting some conversation with the secondary, but this is a small portion of us seeing some things that we might not see during the season,” Kearney football coach Brandon Cool said. “But at the end of the half, or end of the game, there’s some specialty times where we can learn here this summer and be prepared for them coming this fall.”
