State Police identify body as missing Clarksburg man

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has identified a body found near a Clarksburg shopping center as the remains of a missing man.

The West Virginia State Police on Thursday announced the body of John Bryce Westerhausen, 58, of Clarksburg was found Tuesday in a wooded area near the Eastpointe Shopping Center.

Westerhausen was last seen alive on June 21. West Virginia State Police received a report regarding Westerhausen two days later.

Troopers said there were no signs of foul play.

An investigation is underway. Anyone with information should call the West Virginia State Police’s Bridgeport Detachment at 304-627-2300.
