1 dead, 1 in critical condition after central Pa. crash: police

A crash killed the passenger of a vehicle and left the driver in critical condition in Adams County on Thursday, according to police.

73-year-old Vasanthakumari Chockkaungam was killed when the vehicle crashed on U.S. 15 in Huntington Township around 1:50 p.m., state police said. The driver of the vehicle, Kunjithapantham Chockkaungam, 72, remains in critical condition.

According to police, the pair were driving north on U.S. 15 near the exits to the Carlisle Pike when left the road and passed over the off-ramp. Police said the vehicle continued over a grass median, then passed the on-ramp to US 15 from the Carlisle Pike, when it hit an embankment.

The vehicle rolled over after hitting the embankment, police said.

No additional details were available on Thursday evening.
