The Nye County Sherriff's Office is shutting down recent animal shelter rumors.
On Thursday, the sheriff's office made a public announcement, stating that the shelter was transitioning management which does not mean their animals will be getting euthanized.
"There have been rumors circulating that at midnight tomorrow, the new Shelter Manager will be euthanizing all animals at the shelter. This is a false rumor," the message says.
"The new Shelter Manager will be transitioning into the role and concentrating on the well-being of the animals. Their care is her primary concern."
According to the release, starting Friday, July 1, the county will be taking over the Nye County Animal Shelter operations.
Due to the transition, the shelter is set to be closed to the public, reopening on Tuesday, July 5.
It is unclear if the rumor started due to the announcement of the multi-day closure of the shelter.
