MAXWELL, Neb.-Weather conditions that are perfect for wildfires have prompted the Maxwell Volunteer Fire Department to issue a ban on fireworks and burning.
Fire officials said they had hoped weather conditions would improve, but that isn't the case and a temporary ban is necessary.
Officials said anyone causing a fire by discharging fireworks will be billed for the cost of fighting that fire.
The ban is temporary, and officials are hopeful it can be lifted prior to Independence Day.
