Grand River Brewery 9th Anniversary Pig Roast.  4 PM to 11 PM.  It’s time to celebrate!! This Friday we are celebrating our 9th anniversary!  Live music starts at 4 pm.  Hawaiian Buffet and Pig Roast on the side patio at 5 (Tickets are $28 at the door).  PLANET BASIL ALL DAY!  Grand River Brewery, Glick & Mechanic, Downtown Jackson.

First Friday Fireworks.  6 PM to 10 PM.  First Friday Fireworks at ART 634.  Join ART634 for an explosive First Friday. Late Night Friday at Sandhill Crane Vineyards.  Start out your holiday weekend with a Late Night Friday! Be the first to try our July slushies and sangria! Live music by Kayleigh Sloane from 6-9 pm.  Sandhill Crane Vineyards, 4724 Walz Road, Jackson.

Dave Berger Live at Ironbark. 7 PM to 10 PM. Enjoy an evening of classics and a variety of acoustic rock with Dave Berger!  Ironbark Brewing Company, 2610 Kibby Road, Jackson.

The Future of Comedy Show.  8 PM.  On this episode of The Future of Comedy Show we have nationally touring headliner, Mike Ball along with FOC favorite Big Juicy! Plus Future of Comedy Show regulars Steve Kaz, Dan Grinnel, and Cody Calebra. Doors are at 8 pm and show begins at 9 pm.  308 Brass Rail, 308 West Prospect Street, Jackson.

Nixon Water Park.  11 AM to 3 PM.  Nixon Water Park is open for the summer season.   The Nixon Water Park is located inside Nixon Park at 400 E. North St. It contains a water slide, full pool, waterfall, and wading area. The complex also hosts an event space for community use. The water park will be open Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Aug. 20. The cost is $5 per person or 10 swim passes for $40. Extended daily hours are likely to be announced later this summer.  

Saturday, July 2

McCourtie Park July 2nd Independence Day Celebration.  10 AM to 11 PM.  McCourtie Park has a lot of family events planned for Saturday, July 2nd. 3 food trucks in the park from 10 am – after fireworks: Pita Delight, Randy’s BBQ, Amy Jo’s Elephant Ears.  McCourtie Park Community Market 10 am – 3 pm.  Bake Sale (anyone can participate) 10am – 3pm.  Kitten Adoption (Hillsdale Humane Society) 10 am – 3 pm.  Band – Nitro Jen at the Pavilion from 6-9 pm.  FIREWORKS after dark. Please come join us for the day and take advantage of all the events we have to offer.  10426 S. Jackson Road, Somerset Center.

Fireworks:   At dark Saturday at McCourtie Park, over Pleasant Lake,  Springport Speedway and over Devils Lake in Manitou Beach.

Morning Movies at Concord.  11 AM.  Join us at the Concord Branch on the first Saturday of the month for a movie and popcorn! Each movie will have a showing at 11 AM.  July 2:  Grumpy Old Men.  Concord Branch, Jackson District Library.

Tartanius Flynn and the Dungaree’s in Concert.  1 PM to 5 PM.  Stay local and join Michigan’s Military Heritage Museum and Experience Jackson on Saturday, July 2nd from 1-5 pm as we welcome musical guests Tartanius Flynn and the Dungaree’s. They will perform American standards as well as military classics from around the world. We will also be opening two new exhibits including a Michigan Humanities exhibit on Colonel Karl Detzer who is one of the most published authors in the World, and Colonel Janet Horton the Army’s first female Chaplain to reach that rank and a 9/11 Pentagon survivor.  There will be refreshments and good times! We hope to see you all as we celebrate the 4th of July weekend and remember those who served.  Michigan’s Military Heritage Museum, 311 North Wisner Street, Jackson.

Sunday, July 3

Hanover-Horton 4th of July Celebration.  All day, Sunday and Monday!  Join us for our 20th year of celebrating our Nation’s Birthday in Horton and Hanover! Check out our Events Page for a schedule of events.  Also links to forms for vendor registration, Parade Registration, etc.  The parade is Monday at 12 PM, Fireworks Monday at 10 PM.

Cascades Fireworks Show.  Join us for our Independence Day fireworks show on July 3rd! There will be live music from The New Rule. They are a Lansing, Michigan based variety band, playing a mix of classic, contemporary rock, and popular dance music.  Falls open at 6pm, Fireworks at dusk. 

Swingin’ at the Shell.  6 PM.  Swingin’ at the Shell is a FREE concert series for the Albion and surrounding communities.  The Swingin’ at the Shell annual concert series takes place in Albion’s beautiful and historic Victory Park Band Shell!  Come out and enjoy some good old-fashioned summertime fun!  The concert series is FREE and open to the public thanks to the following generous sponsors: Caster Concepts, Parks Drug Store, Team 1 Plastics, and the Albion Community Foundation. The season’s first concert is today featuring the 566th Air Force Band of the Midwest.

Power Play Detroit at the Beach Bar.  5 PM.  Come on out and celebrate the 4th of July with us! This is a super fun rockin place!!  3505 Ocean Beach Road, Clarklake.

The Swift Brothers at Sandhill Crane.  12 PM to 3 PM.  The Swift Brothers return for a holiday weekend celebration at Sandhill Crane. Come give a high five to America with great tunes and delicious wine!  Sandhill Crane Vineyards, 4724 Walz Road, Jackson.

Monday, July 4

Hanover Firecracker Run Walk.  8 AM.  The ORS Running Series presents the Hanover Firecracker 5 Mile Run and 5K Walk.  Downtown Hanover, starting and finishing on Main Street.  Register HERE.  Prizes for the top finishers!  Sponsored by Orthopaedic Rehab Specialists, Experience Jackson and JTV.

Hanover Horton Parade. 12 PM.  Join us as we celebrate our Front Line Heroes! Special honor to Nurse Jacquie Melling, Grand Marshal, for her work at the Hanover-Horton Schools and in the community.  Village of Hanover.

Grass Lake 4th of July Parade, Grass Lake.  10 AM.  Parade starts at 10 a.m. at Grass Lake High School and concludes at the County Park on Grass Lake.

Brooklyn 4th of July Parade.  10 AM, Downtown Brooklyn.  Join us for our 4th of July Parade in Downtown Brooklyn!  Bring your kids, pets, bikes, floats, tractors, trucks and any other fun things and participate in the Parade!  Line up is at 9:30 on Irwin Street with the Parade starting at 10:00.  

4th of July Chicken BBQ.  11 AM (following the Grass Lake Parade)  Grass Lake Sportsman’s Club, 373 N Lake St, Grass Lake.  Dinner includes a half of a chicken, baked beans, chips, roll, and water.  Cost: $15 cash.  There will be a raffle for the following:  1st Prize: Traeger Smoker Grill, 2nd Prize: $200 gift certificate to Custom Meat Cutters.
