UPPER SANDUSKY—A beloved downtown eatery, Shotzy’s Bar and Grill went up in flames early Thursday afternoon. Surrounding businesses were also heavily damaged.

Crawford County Now has confirmed that fire trucks have returned to the scene, and downtown is once again blocked off.

While the cause of the fire is still being investigated, Crawford County Now has learned that a new air conditioning unit was installed on the roof of Shotzy’s on June 11th.

The restaurant had a fire alarm as a result of burnt-up wiring a few days after the completed installation.

Crawford County Now received this update just moments before firefighters had to return to the scene.

Just before 2:00 PM, the Upper Sandusky Fire Department was dispatched for a fire at 130 N Sandusky Ave. Upon arrival, heavy flames were visible from both the front and rear of the buildings.

All occupants were safely evacuated from the businesses and apartments, and there were no injuries reported. The fire was brought under control after 5:00 PM, and the scene was cleared by 7:30 PM. As of yet, a cause has not been determined. The State Fire Marshall’s office is assisting with the investigation.
