PEORIA (25 News Now) - Two days after the election, Paris McConnell declared victory Thursday as continued ballot-counting solidified her position as the second-leading vote-getter in the race for a pair of seats on the Peoria Public Schools District 150 School Board.

The Peoria County Election Commission tallied 32 more ballots, with McConnell and incumbent Board President Gregory Wilson receiving 12 more votes. Dan Walther received eight more votes.

McConnell now leads Walther for the second spot by 19 votes, up from 15 on election night.

McConnell declared victory on her Facebook page.

“I am humbled and excited to serve on Peoria Public Schools Board representing District 2,” she wrote.

“I will listen and value your feedback as We Improve Public Education in Our Communities,” she added.

Wilson is the leading vote-getter in District 2 with 1,563 votes, presumably assured of keeping his board seat. McConnell has 1,477 votes, and Walther has 1,458.
