UPDATE July 1, 12:08:
Firefighters from Jackson County Fire District #3 responded to a two-story house fire in Eagle Point at 4:24 pm on June 30.
All occupants of the house were evacuated to safety.
"The fire spread to one quarter of an acre to the surrounding vegetation," said Jackson County Fire District #3 in a release. "The resident had created defensible space around the structure preventing further spread into the steep terrain."
Alert Wildfire cameras on Long Mountain allowed JCFD#3 to get a sense for the extent of the fire on the 3400 block of East Antelope Road and call in additional resources to address the mounting flames and spreading wildland fire.
Oregon Department of Forestry called in a Type 2 helicopter, which helped to extinguish the flames.
Crews from Fire District 3, ODF Southwest Oregon District, Medford Fire Department, and Lake Creek Fire were at the scene.
The cause of this fire is under investigation.
"With the holiday weekend here, we would like to remind everyone to stay vigilant to the hot and dry conditions while celebrating," JCFD#3 said.
