From the Ask Joe file, one of our viewers asked for an update on the crash that injured three NDOT workers in June.
Here's what I found out:
The three NDOT employees were working near U.S. 395 and Topsy Lane in south Carson City when they were hit by a pick-up truck which had veered off the road. Two the of employees ended up in the hospital.
The employees are now out of the hospital and recovering.
The Nevada State Police tells us the driver was cited for failing to maintain a lane. NSP is not releasing the driver's name.
NDOT had not planned to release the names of its employees but one of them is speaking out.
Joshua Hemovich is an engineer who was doing survey work the day of the accident. Hemovich says courteous driving is contagious but he says aggressive driving is too.
"You get a bunch of people out there treating it like its a race or bumper cars, everybody is going to start doing it, getting irritated and frustrated, " he said. "It's human nature."
Hemovich was wearing a shoulder harness in the interview provided by NDOT but the agency says it can't provide any information on the injuries to its employees.
Both Hemovich and NDOT say they hope this incident will serve as a reminder to motorists to slow down and drive cautiously, especially in construction zones.
