Some employees on the Southside are back at work after they were laid off from their job at Morgan Olson.
They were laid off for about two weeks and during the time they were unemployed they were supposed to be getting money from the Virginia Employment Commission.
However, employees like Tammy Morrison and Mattie Knox say they still have not received their unemployment checks.
"I just don't see why VEC just don't release our money, I mean we need our money, it's our money and we want it and I don't see why they can't just go ahead and release it," said Knox.
"I had two different dates of trying to file that's what they are saying, the deputy is saying on my case," said Morrison.
Morrison and Knox are two of the 700 employees laid off in May. They say only about five employees have received their unemployment checks. Both say they called the Virginia Employment Commission and got nowhere.
"I talk to a lot of people from VEC, you get a different person each time," said Morrison.
"We asked who is the deputy when will they call us. They don't have any idea when they will call us," said Knox.
The VEC commission's spokesperson, Joyce Fogg, believes the employees filed individually.
After reaching out to them, Fogg said VEC would follow up with Morgan Olson to fix the issue.
Morgan Olson HR Department declined to comment.
