The brush fire, named the Beale Fire, was announced as 100 percent contained around 8:30 p.m., according to Kern County Fire Department. A little over 8 acres was burned on Highway 58 west of Caliente Bodfish Road.
The Kern County Fire Department confirmed that a vehicle that left the road and caught fire spread to vegetation in the area. No injuries were reported.

A brush fire has closed Highway 58 near Caliente Bodfish Road Thursday evening, according to CHP and Kern County Fire Department.
Traffic is being diverted at Hart Flat Road.
Just before 5 p.m. CHP's Traffic Incident Information Page reports that a vehicle caught fire on westbound Highway 58 just west of Caliente Bodfish Road , spreading to surrounding hills. The fire is moving rapidly, according to a tweet by the Kern County Fire Department.
Avoid the area if you can. It's unknown when the area will reopen.
