Official: Big Ten has voted two new schools into conference

The Big Ten Conference just got really, really good. You can start planning a weekend in California to watch your favorite Big Ten team play.

The Big Ten presidents and chancellors had a vote on Thursday evening on if they would allow USC and UCLA into the conference.

According to Pete Thamel, the vote went well, and both the Pac-12 teams will be leaving the conference to head to the Big Ten in 2024.

Both the USC and UCLA Twitter accounts confirmed the news.

With the new additions to the Big Ten there are a couple of things here. The Big Ten Conference will now have 16 teams in it, and this is the second expansion inside the conference since 2014 when it added Maryland and Rutgers.

Secondly, the word mega conference may start coming up. Recently it was announced that both Oklahoma and Texas would be leaving the Big 12 and heading to the SEC to play alongside Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and the rest of the conference. With the Big Ten and the SEC adding major brands to their conferences, it’s going to be interesting to see what dominos may follow after a gigantic announcement.

Both USC and UCLA are supposed to be bringing over all sports to the Big Ten except for beach volleyball.
