A Charleston man has been arrested after police responded to a report of shots fired Thursday evening.
Kevin Gerard Denson, 35, has been charged with being a prohibited person with a firearm, according to a news release from the Charleston Police Department.
The news release said the incident occurred in the 200 block of Leon Sullivan Way about 5 p.m.
Officers report multiple shots were fired and two people were detained by law enforcement. Investigators said a building suffered damage after being struck by gunfire.
A criminal complaint states that Denson was found at the scene in the back of an SUV with two AR-15 rifles. Investigators said Denson is a felon and is not able to legally possess firearms.
No injuries were reported. Police said there were no threats or concerns for people attending the Charleston Sternwheel Regatta.
The incident remains under investigation.
