A man was arrested Wednesday after the Office of the State Fire Marshal said he set three fires near several businesses in Hampstead and burned down a trailer.
Hampstead police said they arrested 33-year-old Wesley C. England as he was walking away from one of the fires set.
The first fire was discovered around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday head a Wendy's in the 4200 block of North Woods Trail. Shortly thereafter, an off-duty police officer found a trash can on fire in front of the H&R Block in Robert's Field Shopping Center. He also found grass and pine needles on fire in the area of Crystal Court.
Around 11:30 p.m., Wednesday, neighbors reported a camper trailer was on fire in the 4600 block of Upper Beckleysville Road. Neighbors said someone had gone inside the trailer without permission before the fire. Police said England was found nearby and confessed to all four fires. The trailer was totally destroyed by the fire.
England faces charges of arson, malicious burning, and malicious destruction of property over $1,000.
England is being held without bond at Carroll County Detention Center in Westminster.
