Five years after a man disappeared, three people have been charged with his murder.
Joseph Lartey was last seen in September 2017.
New court documents say there’s evidence that shows he was killed and dumped in a field near Shawnee. His body has never been found. Police say cell phone records tied the suspects to the killing.
Authorities found the victim’s car abandoned in Shawnee, with blood inside. He left behind a 3-month-old daughter.
“Since he can’t still be here to be with his daughter, we can at least give him justice,” his sister, Jennifer, said. “At this point, I feel like it’s owed to his daughter to know the truth about what happened to her father.”
Investigators believe he was killed because he didn’t follow one of the suspect’s orders or because he was dating a suspect’s girlfriend. Court documents say one of the suspects helped orchestrate the murder while in prison.
