A building and its contents received extensive fire and smoke damage Wednesday evening in Burden. The property is the location of Sunshyn Transport Inc.
The fire was reported in the 300 block of west 5th St. around 8:30 p.m. Burden firefighters arrived to find a single-story commercial structure with heavy smoke and fire showing.
Fire crews that arrived began an “aggressive interior attack,” according to a press release. The structure was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
An initial investigation by the Winfield Fire Department investigator indicates an electrical wiring issue as a possible cause of the fire.
Fire units from Cambridge, Dexter and Winfield also responded to the scene and assisted in extinguishing the fire. Burden PD and Cowley SO deputies also assisted with scene control.
