A shopping spree turned into a crime spree after a high-speed chase through Marshall and Bryan Counties. On June 22, 2022, Nathan Young and Kobe Johnson, were arrested after several alleged crimes.

At approximately 7:45 p.m., Madill officers were contacted by Marshall County Dispatch about a possible theft from Walmart. While en route to the store, Madill Officer Anna Gerard called about the incident. Tallack informed Gerard that due to the amount of stolen items, the charges would more than likely be felonies.

Unfortunately, the two suspects left the area of Walmart before officers were able to arrive on the scene. Tallack informed officers that the two suspects left in a black Chevrolet Malibu with Texas plates. He said he witnessed the car head south toward Kingston.

Officer Dylan Mathews and Gerard left Walmart with their sirens blazing in an attempt to catch up to the suspects. Just before reaching Gary Road, Mathews saw a car that matched the description of the suspect’s vehicle. Mathews then attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but Young failed to stop.

Mathews notified Marshall County Dispatch that he was initiating a pursuit. At approximately two miles into the pursuit, Mathews hung back and allowed Officer Joshua Paul to take the lead, so Mathews could focus more on letting dispatch know the direction the pursuit was heading.

The suspects continued to flee and put other drivers at risk by passing vehicles in nopassing zones and running the red light in Kingston. The Malibu continued east on Highway 70 and reached speeds exceeding 102 miles per hour.

The pursuit crossed over the Roosevelt Bridge into Bryan County territory, and Bryan County deputies joined the montage. The Malibu allegedly almost collided with a vehicle attempting to yield to the high-speed pursuit. Once the group reached the fourlaned road past the Roosevelt Bridge, the suspects reached speeds of 128 miles per hour. The pursuit was quickly approaching Durant city limits. Right outside city limits, a Durant Officer deployed his stop sticks and was successful puncturing the back passenger tire.

The vehicle then turned onto the Highway 70 bypass and came to a stop approximately one mile shy of the Highway 69/75 exit. Once the pursuit ended, officers were able to take the suspects into custody.

Young was arrested without incident, however, Johnson resisted. Officer Paul was able to quickly neutralize the situation with an arm-bar take down and take Johnson into custody.

Young, a 31-year-old male from Dallas, Texas, is charged with Eluding in Bryan County, and Eluding and Grand Larceny in Marshall County. An online search found prior convictions for Aggravated Robbery.

Johnson, a 19-year-old male from Dallas, Texas was arrested for Grand Larceny. He is also facing charges in Dallas County for Unlawfully Concealing a Weapon.
