[UPDATE 3:20 p.m.] Reverse 911 Sent Out, Law Enforcement Has Area Blocked Off Near the Sequoia Zoo

Law enforcement has a home on Glatt Street near the Sequoia Zoo surrounded after a suspect that fled from a traffic stop may have entered that building.

According to Brittany Powell, spokesperson for the Eureka Police, “A male passenger fled on foot from a traffic stop.  A reverse 911 sent to ask residents in the area to shelter in place while officers search for the male.”

North Coast News was near the scene and filmed this:

UPDATE 2:47 p.m.: According to the Incident Commander, the Shelter in Place is going to be canceled.

UPDATE 3:20 p.m.: According to our reporter at the scene, Mark McKenna, one vehicle is being searched by officers and a K-9. A man has been handcuffed and is being detained in one of the Eureka Police vehicles. We don’t know why the man has been detained. It may not be in connection with this incident.
