After making a big splash this past year at Liberty High School by qualifying for the Class 4A Region III Track and Field Meet this past May in the 800-meter run and winning numerous meets and running cross country for Head Cross Country Coach Joe Roberts, the Panthers Rene Romero will continue his academic and athletic career at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.

“After a long time of consideration, I have decided to further my academic and athletic career in the sport of cross country and track and field at Graceland University,” said Romero in a statement he released.

“The University has supported me from the start, and I’m beyond ready to join their program,” added Romero.

The Yellow Jackets will compete in the NAIA College Division.

“He has worked extremely hard to get his opportunity,” said Roberts. “His dedication and commitment to training while he could have been doing other kid things has truly paid off for him.”
