LUMBERTON, N.C. (WPDE) —
Lumberton police responded to reports of a person shot in the area of 510 West 32nd Street Thursday around 2:45 p.m., according to a release.

When officers arrived, they found one subject suffering from a gunshot wound, the release said.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the person shot may have been committing breaking and entering when he was confronted by the homeowner and as a result shot, police said.
The injured person did suffer life-threatening injuries and was flown to a hospital for treatment, police confirmed.
