Jackson police have made an arrest in the city's 71st homicide of the year.
Kenneth Weathers, 61, was shot the night of June 16 outside a convenience store in the 1600 block of Robinson Road, Deputy Chief Deric Hearn said. Weathers died June 29 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Hearn said.
Police released two surveillance photos of a man suspected in the shooting, who was later identified as Kenterrious Williams. Members of a U.S. Marshal Service task force captured Williams Friday, Hearn said in a news release.
"The Jackson Police Department will continue to work hard to bring justice to all families who have lost loved ones to these senseless acts of violence in the city of Jackson," Hearn said in a statement. "We pray for peace and ask that individuals find other avenues to settle disputes other than resorting to gun violence."
