Police chase down stolen ambulance

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga Police had to chase a stolen ambulance Thursday morning.

It happened in the 1300 block of North Holtzclaw Avenue around 8:30.

Police were called when someone jumped into the ambulance on East 3rd Street and drove off.

Officers spotted it on Holtzclaw and tried to stop it.

The ambulance did stop.

But when police tried to approach it, they say the driver tried to drive off again and hit a police unit.

The police vehicle was disabled.

They managed to take a 66 year old male into custody and take him to the hospital for observation.
